Trap City is a renowned YouTube channel and record label that has become synonymous with the genre of trap music and future bass. Founded in 2012 by Idmon Yildiz and Gabriel Isik, they are currently one of the largest electronic music promotion channels on YouTube with over 14 million subscribers and over 5.2 billion views.
Trap City has forged partnerships with a roster of esteemed bass artists, featuring notable names such as TroyBoi, Skan, ARMNHMR, Crankdat, HighSociety, and RIOT, among others. These releases are under both their flagship label, Trap City Records, and their sub-label, brednbutter (Co-founded with Far East Movement).
Trap City was officially distributed by Spinnin Records from 2016-2018.
On September 6, 2019, Trap City underwent a visual rebrand, introducing an updated logo and a new version of its audio visualizer on this exact Youtube upload. On April 5, 2023, the channel implemented a second minor update on audio visualiser and introduced new channel: Wave City The update also included refreshed branding and audio visualizers across Trap City’s associated YouTube divisions: Rap City, House City, Chill City, Bass City and Latin City.
Throughout its history, Trap City has had A&R representatives and curators overseeing the channel’s content and artist relations. One of the most notable was Rob Loohuis, who was actively involved in curation and A&R activities from starting from unknown time until approximately late 2022-2023 (Citation Needed). As of the present, the channel is curated by David Kramer.
