Glenn Morrison is used to living a life of superlatives – quite how he finds time to be one of life’s overachievers remains a mystery to those who know him. Whether it’s as a producer, remixer or label owner he seems to achieve in 24 hours what most of us can only manage in a week. But, despite this wealth of creative and business talent he has a reputation for being one of the most level-headed and likeable figures on the dance music scene today. Starting out as teenage classical piano prodigy (sometimes more a curse than a blessing) this precocious Canadian competed on the national stage from a young age. However, it wasn’t long before the dance floor beckoned and he made the sometimes difficult transition from well-mannered world of fugues and sonatas to club sound system. His love for all things dance was fostered at Toronto’s Release Records where Glenn developed his burgeoning interest in the business side of the industry with his first successful forays into label A&R. This ultimately lead to the foundation of his own record label, Morrison Recordings in 2005, which alongside an ever growing reputation for high-quality dance, is a serious player in the provision of tracks for video games and movies. EA Sports, Activision, Rockstar, Sony, Universal, Mercedes Benz, Native Instruments, and Hugo Boss are just some of the companies that have benefited from the distinctly hands-on approach that Glenn takes with all his projects. Not content with utilizing his considerable business acumen (he will shortly be off to Harvard to complete his MBA), Glenn manages to be one of the major upcoming players in the global dance music scene. Hitting number one on the Beatport sales chart, remixing the Pet Shop Boys, Craig Armstrong, the B52’s, and Bernard Sumner (from New Order), signing tracks to EMI, Universal, Azuli, Positiva, Armada, Bedrock and Poker Flat, and getting props from the cream of the world's top DJs (including Sasha, Tiësto, Armin Van Buuren, Justice, Nick Warren, John Digweed, Laurent Garnier and Sven Väth) are just a slice of the last 12 months for this workaholic North American. As if this weren’t enough, Glenn has notched up considerable success as a DJ in his own right. His eclectic taste for all things considered proper club house has garnered him a variety of fans from varying core sound bases. From grainy screeching acid lines to lush ethereal progressive, this jack of all trades does it all and well. Having played in over 30 countries and at the best clubs and festivals worldwide – from LA to Rio to Tokyo to London - it seems that nothing can stop the Morrison rollercoaster.
