Hailing from the UK, Dom Whiting is a British DJ renowned for curating and livestreaming exhilarating open DnB bike rides. Until 2020, he was a regular DJ gracing the stages of UK clubs. However, with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent closure of entertainment venues for months, he embraced innovation, embarking on a unique musical journey.
In the wake of venue closures, Whiting made a bold move by taking his music outdoors. He began livestreaming his DnB sets on Facebook, setting the stage for a new era in his career. The first two sets, which took place in August 2020, were stationary affairs. But it was in September 2020 that he introduced a novel concept—a specially designed rickshaw with a DJ deck at the back. Perched as a passenger, he spun tracks while the rickshaw rolled through the streets, turning the city into his dance floor.
In November 2020, Whiting upped the ante yet again. He engineered a new bike that allowed him to seamlessly mix and drive at the same time, creating an unparalleled experience that combined his passion for music and cycling. As the Livestreams began garnering rapid popularity on social media in 2021, something remarkable occurred—enthusiastic cyclists started joining his rides, transforming them into massive bike-raves that drew thousands of participants.
His unique fusion of music, movement, and community has not gone unnoticed. In 2021, Dom Whiting earned two prestigious Drum'n'bass Arena awards: "Best Newcomer" and "Best Live Stream Set." His compelling performances garnered him admiration and recognition from peers and fans alike. The momentum didn't stop there; in 2022, he secured the Drum'n'bass Arena award for "Best Live Stream Set" once again.
The concept that started as a response to adversity has now evolved into a global phenomenon. Whiting's open DnB bike rides have transcended the UK, venturing into international territories. From Belgium to Germany and Spain, these immersive musical journeys are leaving a trail of rhythmic excitement across borders.
